We are seeking a highly skilled Rigging Specialist to join our team at DNEG. As a key member of our animation department, you will be responsible for creating high-quality animation rigs for digital doubles, creatures, props, and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical and creative solutions to produce high-quality rigs according to production needs.
  • Work closely with Creature Supervisors and Animation Leads/Supervisors to develop suitable rigging solutions for productions.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless integration of rigs with other departments.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in rigging and animation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in VFX feature films/feature animation.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in Maya.
  • Comfortable with technical aspects of character/creature work.
  • Programming or scripting skills, preferably in Python.
  • Strong visual and artistic skills.
  • Excellent understanding of anatomy.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with pipeline issues and typical creature-heavy post-production environments.
  • Strong facial rigging experience.
  • Software development experience in C++, PyQt, and Python.
  • Knowledge of areas in CFX including cloth, hair, and muscle/skin.
  • Good general TD background.
  • Understanding of Linux/Unix-based operating systems.
