Job Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Public Hospital in North Queensland on a locum basis. The ideal candidate will have a background in community and acute settings, with a focus on geriatric care. This role involves comprehensive assessments and collaborative planning to ensure our patients receive the best support possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct home safety assessments and provide recommendations for basic equipment prescriptions to enhance patient safety and independence.
- Perform cognitive assessments to evaluate patients' mental function and support appropriate intervention strategies.
- Assess and re-train patients in activities of daily living (PADL) to promote independence and improve quality of life.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for effective discharge planning, ensuring smooth transitions from hospital to home care.
