Job Overview

This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a leadership role in a dynamic mining environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mine production activities and personnel within their assigned crew.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, managing operations, and driving results. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Representing the Quarry Manager, ensure personnel in the mining areas are not exposed to hazards by undertaking regular inspections and directing mining operations accordingly.
  • Cultivate and mentor mining leading hands and your assigned crew to achieve objectives.
  • Manage leave requirements effectively.
  • Identify training gaps and develop action/development plans for each employee.
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of the mining fleet to deliver on the mining plan.
  • Complete all required statutory and shift-specific documentation accurately.
  • Nurture a positive team culture.
  • Conduct interviews for new personnel.
  • Engage casual operators as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within a production mining environment.
  • A Restricted Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.
  • A WA 'HR' class drivers' licence (minimum).
  • A First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in front-line management (preferable).
  • Demonstrated success as an effective leader.
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement ideas successfully.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation applicable to the mining industry in WA.
  • Proficiency in computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
