About the Project - Kidston
A joint venture between John Holland and McConnell Dowell is delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland.
This innovative project involves converting a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).
The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off-peak periods.
About the Role
As a Senior Quality Inspector, you'll support the implementation and monitoring of quality objectives, requirements, risks, and other issues that may adversely impact the surety of successful project delivery on a 14/7 FIFO roster.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting inspections, testing, and reporting activities to ensure the project quality requirements are delivered in accordance with specifications for civil works such as earthworks, roads FRP, and tunnelling works.
- Ensuring the projects inspection and test plans are followed and all sign-offs are completed accurately in a timely manner.
- Applying a clear understanding of the project's contractual obligations, standards, procedures, specifications, and tolerances for all work being undertaken.
- Building effective relationships with clients, subcontracts, engineers, and construction personnel.
- Participating in the investigation of non-conformances and taking corrective action resolution and inspecting and verifying the completion of punch/defect list items.
- Under direction, recommending inspection sampling techniques, quality control plans, process control procedures to ensure that products meet specifications and standards.
- Preparing audit reports summarising production and quality issues together and recommending corrective actions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll need an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction, Quality Management, or Project Management, as well as experience in civil engineering and quality management systems, planning techniques, and tools.
