About the Role

Bunnings Group is seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our Merchandise team on a 12-month fixed term contract. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analysing and communicating trading performance, developing category strategic initiatives, and managing inventory health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse and communicate actionable insights on trading performance to drive financial performance and develop strategies for in-season tactical activity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage and understand inventory health, including supplier performance and allocation recommendations to optimise returns.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives, review previous years' performance, and prepare a forward financial plan, including budgeting.
  • Manage deleted and promotional stock, lifecycle performance, and promo results to make recommendations and take action.
  • Build strong relationships with business partners and stakeholders to drive business and merchandise strategies.
  • Partner with the buying team on range reviews and merchandise concept trails to deliver the widest range and best experience for our customers.
  • Communicate results, actions, and impacts to leaders and drive the financial formal monthly reporting process.
  • Conduct range analysis, review assortment performance, determine the best use of space, and optimise clearance outcomes.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, or commerce is preferred.
  • 3+ years' merchandise planning experience or a similar role, ideally with a large retailer.
  • A collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Strong financial acumen with highly developed numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Accountability in seasonal planning, budgeting, and category management.
  • Microsoft Suite experience, advanced Excel, and data analytics capabilities (Power BI experience favourable).
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
