Job Title: Acting Head of Music Curriculum Leader
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Music Teacher with ATAR Music expertise to step into the role of Acting Head of Music Curriculum for a semester. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Music Department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning, while covering the current Head of Music Curriculum during their leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Oversight: Oversee curriculum, assessments, and reporting from K–12, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements.
- ATAR Music Expertise: Ensure SCSA requirements are met for Year 12 ATAR Music.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with moderating schools to ensure moderation requirements are fulfilled for Year 12 ATAR.
- Leadership: Lead and run weekly curriculum meetings with the music staff, fostering teamwork and shared development.
- Exams and Assessments: Organise and coordinate practical exams, including the management of external examiners and accompanists.
- Staff Development: Conduct lesson observations and provide staff mentoring to promote high-quality teaching practices.
- Resource Development: Write, develop resources for, and implement new curriculum content as required.
- Departmental Representation: Attend Head of Department (HOD) meetings and meet regularly with your line manager.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience teaching ATAR Music at the Year 7–12 level.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of SCSA requirements and familiarity with curriculum oversight.
- Qualifications: Completed successful tertiary studies in an area relevant to this position and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Registration: Be a registered teacher in Western Australia (or eligible for registration).
- Leadership Experience: Leadership experience within a music department or similar capacity is highly desirable.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and communication skills to ensure smooth department operations.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with music staff and engage in curriculum development.
- Curriculum Leadership: Experience in curriculum leadership or serving as Head of Department or in similar positions.
- Mentoring: Background in mentoring and guiding staff through curriculum delivery and assessment strategies.
