English and Religious Education Teacher Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our educational institution as a dedicated English and Religious Education teacher. The successful applicant will be passionate about teaching and learning, and committed to supporting the Catholic ethos of our College.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Support and promote the Catholic values that underpin our College community.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality educational programs.
  • Lead by example, modelling a collaborative style of leadership that acknowledges the valuable contribution of each member of our community.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate team-based professional learning that involves engaging with research evidence and data.
  • Actively build a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the well-being of all students.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Year level, including managing student records and communicating with parents.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships between the College, students, and families.
  • Developing and implementing pastoral programs that support the identity of the Village.
  • Supporting the Head of Village with program design and implementation.
  • Being a visible presence for the Village throughout the school day.

The successful applicant will also be expected to:

  • Take a lead role in building community within the year level and Village.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Faith to develop and maintain the Benedictine charism in Y9.
  • Respond to all student issues in a timely manner, following College procedures and the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Manage student discipline issues in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and relevant wellbeing strategies.
  • Align and follow the principles of Restorative Practice when managing student issues.

The successful applicant will also have opportunities to:

  • Develop and implement wellbeing initiatives pertinent to the year level.
  • Work with the College Psychologist and the Director of Learning Support and Enhancement to identify and support students.
  • Assist with NAPLAN and other College initiatives.
  • Attend College functions and events as appropriate to the role.
