An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a skilled Child Protection Specialist to join the Child Protection Service (CPS) at Flinders Medical Centre in Southern Adelaide. The CPS is an evidence-based service that provides a holistic approach to assessment and adapts work practices to maintain current world best practice.

The core focus of this role is to provide an assessment service to infants, adolescents, young children, and their caregivers where child abuse and neglect has been identified by the Department for Child Protection and the child is under the Guardianship of the Minister. These assessments include forensic interviewing and parenting capacity assessments.

Past history will demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in conducting assessments with infants, children, adolescents, and families who have experienced trauma, combined with professional experience/interest in the area of child abuse and neglect. Learn more about the service here.

About the Role:

The primary focus of this role will be to provide assessment and therapy services to vulnerable pregnant women, infants, adolescents, young children, and their caregivers.

  • Advanced knowledge in child trauma assessment and therapy,
  • Confident communication skills with vulnerable and complex families,
  • Demonstrated skills in best-practice models and approaches,
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written.

To be successful in this role, you will have an appropriate degree or equivalent qualifications. Additionally, as a Psychologist, general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and if relevant, Endorsed Areas of Practice are required.

Key Requirements:
  • Salary: $86,950 - $100,729 p.a. (pro rata),
  • AHP2 level position,
  • Multiple part-time and full-time vacancies,
  • 12-month contract.
