We are seeking an experienced Material Planner to join our team at AkzoNobel. As a Material Planner, you will play a critical role in managing the planning, scheduling, and inventory of materials, monitoring performance, and ensuring materials are available in line with our agreed supply plan before release to production or internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive plans for raw material requirements to ensure production continuity.
  • Coordinate the planning and scheduling of materials across various production sites to align with production goals.
  • Decide which products need to be manufactured based on weekly and monthly production plans. This ensures that safety stock levels are maintained to meet demand without overproduction.
  • Regularly review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to ensure Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) and inventory targets are met.
  • Lead daily production meetings to monitor and adjust the production plan. This involves balancing factory capabilities with sales needs to achieve weekly production volume targets and meet sales demands.
  • Address and manage exception messages generated by the MRP system to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Collaborate with the FG Planning team to ensure materials are available for production according to the latest schedule.
  • Work closely with the Warehouse Manager at site level to ensure materials are available as per the agreed schedule, avoiding unnecessary inventory buildup.
  • Continuously enhance the purchasing process by adopting best practices and leveraging advanced technology.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure the integrity of Purchase Orders (POs) through effective planning systems.
  • Continuously monitor and expedite open POs to ensure timely delivery within lead times.
  • Accurately open POs in the ERP system and ensure expected delivery dates are correctly recorded.
  • Based on MRP outputs, provide suppliers with forecasts, including any life cycle management decisions.
  • Monitor OOS situations daily and take necessary actions to expedite orders and resolve shortages.
  • Strive to meet targets such as reducing working capital and improving material availability.
  • Assist the Finance department in resolving any discrepancies related to invoices.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of material master data and assess the required levels of safety stocks to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge in MRP & Excel with strong background in Purchasing, proficiency in SAP
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large quantities of data.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with multiple internal teams.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads, able to work under pressure with little supervision, drive for results, and quality-oriented.
