The Role

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our teams at various locations, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and containers with freight to legal capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure pre-start checks are completed before operating forklifts and other equipment, verifying their good working order.
  • Operate forklifts and machinery safely, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Accurately scan, match, sort, and place freight in designated locations, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Chain of Responsibility.
  • Review consignment notes and provide feedback to supervisors on quality and issues.
  • Match freight and connotes, ensuring no miss-sorted or miss-loaded freight.
  • Ensure all inbound units are cleaned, and pallets, load restraint equipment, and dunnage are recorded and removed.
  • Report incidents of damage, shortages, and split consignments to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Record dunnage and allocate load restraint equipment correctly.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized yard.
  • Work towards a target of zero near-miss incidents or accidents.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute to shared goals and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Review processes and procedures, recommending and implementing improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Genuine commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment practices.
  • Integrity, trustworthiness, professionalism, and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving.
  • Current and valid Class LF Forklift Licence (High Risk Work Licence).
  • Experience operating a forklift in a similar environment and/or industry.
  • Solid experience loading and unloading freight that is oversized, ugly, long lengths, general, and non-palletized.
  • Suitable physical ability to handle repetitive lifting (manual handling) of freight up to 20kgs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working towards targets and deadlines.
  • Good time management skills, coupled with resilience and adaptability.
  • Proven ability to visualize and plan the load.
  • Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised, with a proactive attitude.
  • Good language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, safety meetings, and training programs as required.
What We Offer

An effective salary of between $62,000 and $72,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, is on offer. Remuneration will reflect current market conditions and industry award rates and will be discussed with the successful applicant.
