Senior Electronics Engineer Role

The position of Senior Electronics Engineer is available at a leading organization's laboratories in Sydney, Australia.

This senior role will support the development of new quantum sensor prototypes designed for magnetic and inertial navigation. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership over hardware projects, taking responsibility for technical deliverables from the initial architecture through field trials to product certification.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished analogue/mixed signal design engineer with experience in RF and optoelectronic devices. They will mentor engineers and technicians and drive continuous improvement of hardware development practices. Reporting to the Lead Engineer (Hardware), they will contribute to the deployment of software-ruggedised quantum sensing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and miniaturise bench-top prototypes for operation in the field and eventual productisation.
  • Manage the delivery of complex hardware prototypes, ensuring technical quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Lead and mentor hardware engineers and technicians.
  • Contribute to the development of new quantum sensor prototypes designed for magnetic and inertial navigation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Physics, Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated track-record of delivering high-quality analogue and mixed signal designs at a senior level.
  • RF and optoelectronic experience is highly desirable but not essential.
  • R&D experience working concurrently with scientists and engineers.
  • Experience taking designs from prototype to production, including design for manufacture and product certification.
