Senior Accountant Lead

This is a key role within the H&M Group, responsible for generating and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of the Profit and Loss statement (P&L) and balance sheet.

As Senior Accountant Lead, you will be working closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with local and group policies.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to customize communication to different needs and stakeholders.

The estimated salary for this role is around AU$110,000 - AU$140,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out month-end, quarter-end and year-end routines including external audit and statutory financial reporting
  • Initiate and/or review General ledger bookings relating to revenue reconciliations, stock bookings, intercompany transactions, bank and cash flow reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Accounts Payable liaison with centralised team and manage employee reimbursement claims/payment
  • Apply accounting standards and prepare accounting treatment papers to a high standard, for example carry out routines for IFRS16 lease accounting
  • Assist with tax compliance tasks
  • Assist Accounting Manager for ad hoc reconciliations and reporting tasks
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities with store teams and other functions (IT, Security)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to secure accounting routines
  • Coach accountants and centralised accounting support teams to develop and streamline processes
Requirements:
  • CA/CPA qualified with a minimum of 5 years accounting experience
  • Big 4 background is desirable
  • Excel (intermediate to advanced)
  • Passion for problem solving, process improvement and drive to implement change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented while being able to see the big picture and keep things simple
  • Strong organisational, time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in SAP, VIM, Concur is favourable
  • Retail industry experience is desirable
