Risk Management Specialist

Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Principal Business Risk Advisor to join our first line Insurance Risk and Resilience team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the insurance business in its management of all Line 1 risk and compliance responsibilities.
Job DescriptionThe Principal Business Risk Advisor will be responsible for:
- Supporting the consideration of member interests in risk decision-making across the Group, ensuring the interests of policyholders are considered in the conduct of operations.
- Engaging with and supporting first line-of-defence management in applying effective risk practices and generating appropriate risk behaviours by establishing trusted working relationships with managers at all levels.
- Supporting and providing guidance to business leaders in managing risk and compliance issues, including root cause analysis, risk profiling, risk assessments, and control assurance.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement and embedment of the risk management framework.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary education in business, project management, change management, accounting/commerce or similar.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior leadership.
- Strong working knowledge of risk management.
- An enquiring mind and inquisitive nature with the ability to uncover hidden insights.
- Courage to speak up, when necessary, regardless of position.
- Critical analysis skills to address problems effectively.
