Senior Electrical Engineer Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring excellence in design, documentation, and execution. This position leads multidisciplinary teams, coordinates with stakeholders, mentors junior staff, and promotes best practices to uphold technical standards, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Lead, design, and deliver electrical engineering projects from concept to completion.
  2. Conduct client consultations and maintain relationships throughout project lifecycles.
  3. Oversee project invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  4. Produce and review detailed electrical service designs and documentation.
  5. Actively participate in company management and technical review meetings.
  6. Prepare comprehensive engineering drawings and specifications for commercial applications.
  7. Collaborate with internal project teams and external stakeholders during all project phases.
  8. Supervise and mentor drafters, ensuring quality and accuracy in documentation.
  9. Coordinate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across disciplines.
  10. Drive optimal use of engineering tools and resources to meet client requirements.
  11. Deliver projects within defined timeframes, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  12. Align engineering efforts with broader company goals and strategic priorities.
  13. Foster strong working relationships with consultants, clients, and team members.
  14. Champion collaboration and interdepartmental teamwork.
  15. Mentor junior engineers through technical support and project leadership.
  16. Maintain detailed records of project activities and stakeholder communications.
  17. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable standards and regulations, including Australian Standards and the National Construction Code.
  18. Support the resolution of day-to-day engineering issues and contribute to special initiatives as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
  • Proven expertise in electrical engineering design and project delivery
  • Experience in commercial construction projects
  • Proficient in industry-standard design software
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and complex projects
