Salary
We are offering an attractive salary package, estimated to be around AU$150,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience. This competitive remuneration reflects the importance of this leadership role in driving the growth and development of our region.
Job Description
The Regional Director for Sustainable Development will play a pivotal role in leading Waratah-Wynyard Council into the future. As the chief executive officer, you will be responsible for supporting councillors, staff, and the community in developing and delivering a clear vision for a vibrant and sustainable region. This includes building on the existing culture of continuous improvement in the organisation and demonstrating a commitment to the Waratah-Wynyard municipal area and the surrounding region, its people, and the future.
This leadership role exercises overall responsibility for the operations of Council as laid out and in compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas). You will support the development and implementation of Council's overall strategy, including policy development, oversight, and financial management of the Council, as well as communication and promotion of Council's policies and procedures to the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will have a history of leading organisations through periods of growth and change, building cultures that you and the organisation are proud of, and being firmly focused on outcomes. Highly developed communication and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder groups.
Familiarity with relevant legislation within the Local Government context is essential, as is knowledge and understanding of the changing social, political, and economic issues facing the local government sector.
