About the Role

The Director, Community Visiting and Advocacy (North) is a senior leadership position responsible for leading and facilitating the efficient and effective operation of the Community Visiting and Advocacy unit.

This role is part of the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision-making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Strategically lead the delivery of contemporary client-centred and responsive Community Visiting and Advocacy services that comply with the Public Guardian Act 2014.
  2. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strategically use data and quality review outcomes to deliver service excellence and a culture of continuous improvement to practice quality, visiting services, and advocacy.
  3. Collaboration and Partnership: Work in partnership with the Director Community Visiting and Advocacy (South) to coordinate consistent delivery of Community Visiting and Advocacy services across Queensland.
  4. Strategic Advice: Provide strategic high-level advice to the Deputy Public Guardians and Public Guardian on matters relating to Community Visiting and Advocacy services.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Establish collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Team Leadership: Lead the business unit in relation to work planning and review, staff development, team management, and communication to ensure the efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources.
Requirements
  1. C Class Driver's License: Possession of a C class driver's license is a mandatory requirement for this role, as travel is required to attend meetings, events, and visits in a range of locations.
  2. Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience relating to law, social, health, behavioural sciences or related disciplines is highly desirable.
  3. Working with Children Check: A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, OPG will guide you on how to apply.
