The Role

The Group Finance Manager will oversee a team of accountants to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient consolidated management reporting. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment.

You will also be expected to take on areas of deeper accounting judgments, estimates, and complexity.

The Group Finance Manager will support the Corporate Reporting Manager at half-year and year-end, ensuring timely and accurate Statutory reporting. This includes taking on more complex accounting notes and disclosures, liaising with external auditors, and reviewing subsidiary accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial accounting processes across the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Fixed Assets.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures, including reconciliations and consolidations.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial results and analysis to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Financial Control & Compliance: Manage, review, and improve processes and procedures, including associated policies.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to manage costs, cash flow, investments, and financial risk in the business.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls.
  • Liaise with external auditors, manage yearly insurance renewals, and ensure all statutory compliance requirements are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills, focusing on areas such as financial reporting, compliance, and analysis.
  • Ad-hoc Project Work: Collaborate with the Financial Systems team to improve the ERP system and data collection and presentation.
  • Conduct projects and analyses as required by senior management, providing actionable recommendations based on findings to inform decision-making and strategic direction.

Requirements

  • A degree in a business-related discipline and accreditation with CA/CPA or equivalent is essential.
  • Previous exposure to a Group Finance role in a listed, global business or a managerial role within a Big 4 or Mid-tier auditing firm.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver clear accounting and reporting advice within the finance team as well as non-finance teams.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently to resolve complicated accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Ability to research and provide relevant technical guidance to solve complex accounting problems.
  • Process improvement mindset with a clear focus on improving accounting processes and uplifting financial reporting through the Group, both within half-year/year-end and through the year.
  • Focus on collaboration and bringing both the Corporate Reporting Team and Management Reporting Team together to solve difficult financial accounting and reporting problems.
  • The ability to grasp complex issues and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality financial reporting, which provides high confidence and quality insights to management.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop own technical knowledge and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong analytical mindset with a meticulous eye for detail, whilst still being able to see the longer strategic vision for the Group.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills with the senior and junior accountants and the ability to inspire a team.
  • Previous experience with Dynamics 365 ERP will be highly regarded.
