Open Cut Coal Mining Operations Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Open Cut Examiner to join our team at the Carmichael Mine, a 10mtpa coal mine located in central Queensland.

This role is a key position within our operations, responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all personnel working in and around the open cut operation of our Carmichael mine. The successful candidate will have relevant experience working in open cut coal mining environments and a strong commitment to safe production.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking statutory inspections every shift within and adjacent to the CCM open cut operations;
  • Reducing unacceptable levels of risk and assisting in developing, reviewing, and auditing the Carmichael Coal mine's safety and health management system;
  • Using mining knowledge to assist with coal quality, spontaneous combustion, and CHPP interface issues on back shifts;
  • Assisting in daily production plans with corresponding job safety analysis or risk assessments;
  • Understanding the requirements and risk controls as outlined in the CCM SHMS;
  • Ensuring timely processing of all relevant documentation;
  • Making safe any unsafe thing at the mine as per part 2 of the CMHSA Regs and adequately escalating any safety-related issues as required;
  • Meeting Open Cut Examiners' responsibilities as outlined in the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 2004 and the Coal Mining Health and Safety Regulation 2017.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid QLD CBM, a valid Practicing Qld OCE examiner qualification issued under the Practicing Certificate Scheme (PCS), and proof of compliance with PCS. They will also have S1, S2, S3, and G2 qualifications updated within the last 5 years, a valid First aid certificate including CPR, and a valid RIIENV301E certificate and OCE proficiency in Gas Monitoring.
