Government Engagement Role Overview

The role of a Government Advisor is based in either Canberra or Sydney with regular travel required.

This is a 6 month contract position.

The Government Engagement team is part of the Government & Stakeholder Division.

As a member of the Government Engagement team, the role will work with colleagues within the team and across the organization to facilitate extensive engagement with government across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of government engagement strategic objectives
  • Establish and build on relationships of trust and credibility with governments
  • Support preparation, organisation and review of papers, briefings, policies, and reports
  • Monitor and report on emerging government issues; manage government-related events, issues, and briefings; and be the point of contact for government

Requirements and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a position of similar remit undertaking government relations within Australia in a complex, issues rich environment
  • Experience and knowledge of Australia's electricity and gas sectors
  • Detailed understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising at senior Departmental and Ministerial office level, with preference for Federal experience
  • Strong networks and reputation established with governments, with preference for Federal government

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, economics, law or related discipline or significant experience of parity
