About the Role

This exciting opportunity is designed for experienced software engineers with a passion for release management and delivery excellence. As a Software Engineering Lead, you will plan and manage release schedules, coordinating across integration, verification & validation (V&V), and delivery teams to ensure software is built, integrated, and released to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage release schedules, coordinating across integration, verification & validation (V&V), and delivery teams.
  • Oversee build and deployment pipelines, ensuring smooth promotion through environments.
  • Develop and enforce release governance processes, balancing speed with quality and compliance.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate release-related risks and dependencies.
  • Define and refine processes that maintain configuration control across the program.
  • Ensure software elements are correctly baselined and integrated into the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Champion best practice in CI/CD pipelines, version control, and change management.
  • Lead configuration audits and guide developers through issue resolution.
  • Mentor and support team members, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar—or equivalent release/configuration experience.
  • Strong skills in release management, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab pipelines).
  • Proven experience with version control and repository management (e.g., GitLab, Nexus).
  • Solid understanding of Agile/DevSecOps practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide technical teams and influence stakeholders.
  • An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
  • Prior experience as a Release Manager or Build Manager in large-scale software projects.
  • Familiarity with containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of configuration management in regulated or safety-critical industries (e.g., defence, aerospace).
