Role overview:

With a growing pipeline of diverse project work, we have a new opportunity for a Principal or Senior level Flora Ecologist to join our Queensland ecology team. Join a high-performing team that puts quality and culture at the forefront, working on both specialist ecology and major infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing technical ecological advice and report deliverables on a range of projects, primarily in QLD and northern NSW
  • Ground-truthing of Regional Ecosystems and threatened flora surveys, BioCondition and BAM plots and other aspects of flora assessment and management
  • Contributing to the leadership and senior support of the national ecology team, especially within Queensland
  • Involvement in business development and the development of winning proposals
  • Proactively managing projects or components of projects, quality assurance and development of client relationships

Requirements & Qualifications:

You are an experienced flora ecologist with a passion for Australia's ecosystems and a desire to contribute to a multi-disciplinary consultancy. To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in ecology or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in botanical surveys, preferably in QLD and NSW
  • Suitably qualified or eligible to be suitably qualified for protected plants surveys in QLD (as per DES requirements)
  • Knowledge of, and experience in ground-truthing of Regional Ecosystems and BioCondition surveys
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership and collaboration skills
  • Experience in impact assessment within the QLD and Commonwealth legislative systems
