Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to provide end-to-end payroll support to our key clients in a mid-tier accounting firm.

About the Role: As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, while contributing to a successful team. You will be responsible for administering and managing the fortnightly payroll cycle, handling payroll adjustments, terminations, leave reconciliations, and one-off payments for a number of our key clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Administration: Administer and manage the fortnightly payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Handle payroll adjustments, terminations, leave reconciliations, and one-off payments for a number of our key clients.
  • Process Documentation and Improvement: Assist with process documentation, identify potential improvements, and ensure a strong focus on audit and governance.
  • Award and Enterprise Agreement Interpretation: Interpret awards and enterprise agreements, validate calculations, identify discrepancies, and take corrective actions. Proactively identify risks in payroll processing and propose mitigations.
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive and practical approach, maintaining high standards of communication and service.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience handling payroll end to end ideally supporting different clients.
  • Payroll Systems: Extensive experience with payroll systems.
  • Payroll Legislation: Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, including taxation, superannuation, terms, and leave.
  • Time and Attendance Systems: Proficiency in time and attendance systems, award/enterprise agreement interpretation, and payroll system integration.
  • Analytical and Organisational Skills: Strong analytical skills, organisational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Computer Literacy: Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Excel.
