About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Civil Practice Group at Avant Law. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of lawyers and paralegals, providing high-quality legal services to our members, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the civil litigation team to ensure billing targets are met and high-quality legal services are provided.
  • Supervise and develop lawyers and paralegals to enable career growth and improve team performance.
  • Coordinate resourcing and workflows within the civil team to ensure efficient and effective claim management.
  • Support the delivery of medico-legal advisory services to Avant members by providing advice and assistance.
  • Conduct own civil file load and manage non-civil matters such as professional conduct and coronial cases.
  • Advise and support the Head of Practice, Legal, and other stakeholders on state legal trends, issues, and developments.
Requirements
  • 10+ years' PQE ideal.
  • Experience in leadership or strong interest in developing people leadership skills.
  • Defence medical negligence and insurance law experience ideal.
  • Demonstrated health law knowledge.
  • Proactive in developing relationships and understanding member, business, and team requirements.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
