We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Policy Officer to join our Aboriginal Truth and Treaty Branch in the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. As a key member of our Strategic Policy team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing policies that support Aboriginal self-determination and promote truth-telling through the Yoorrook Justice Commission.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze policy proposals to provide high-quality policy advice on complex strategic and social policy issues related to Treaty matters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and Aboriginal leaders.
- Provide authoritative advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement department-wide policy and strategy that supports Aboriginal self-determination.
- Build organizational awareness and engagement with Treaty and truth-telling work across the department.
- Expertise or experience in policy analysis and development, with a strong understanding of Aboriginal affairs and social policy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Commitment to elevating the Aboriginal voice and world view in policy development.
