Procurement Expert

We are seeking a seasoned Procurement Officer to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our Land Vehicle Systems Branch, you will play a crucial role in delivering cutting-edge vehicles and equipment on time, to exacting standards.

  • You will plan, coordinate, and execute procurement activities for the AFV Branch, including sourcing, tendering, and contracting.
  • You will manage suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services while maintaining quality and compliance with Defence standards.
  • You will oversee the movement, storage, and distribution of materials from suppliers to internal teams and customers.
  • You will apply procurement methodologies and contract options to resolve complex supply chain challenges.
  • You will contribute to tender development, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts in alignment with best practice and Defence requirements.
  • You will develop and improve processes to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
  • You will provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members on procurement practices and systems.
  • You will maintain accurate documentation and reporting for procurement activities, ensuring compliance with Defence and organisational standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong defence background and passion for delivering complex projects that enhance Australia's defence capability.
  • Eligible to hold and maintain an AGSVA NV1 (or higher) Baseline Security Clearance.
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Law, Supply Chain Management or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • A minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably within Defence, Defence industry primes, or complex engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement methodologies, contract options, and tender processes.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships.
  • A professional, discreet, and collaborative approach with a focus on delivering results in a team environment.
