Commercial Interior Designer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Interior Designer to join our team. As an In House Designer, you will work independently and collaboratively with the Design Director to deliver high-quality studio projects.

  • You will collaborate with the Design Director on the vision, studio requirements, and brand identity.
  • You will translate designs into comprehensive, accurate, and detailed interior documentation, including construction drawings, renders, specifications, and schedules.
  • You will analyze and optimize spatial layouts to enhance functionality and user experience.
  • You will research and specify appropriate materials, furnishings, and finishes that align with the design vision.
  • You will manage the Council Permit Application process and associated consultants.
  • You will submit detailed documentation for tender, prepare budgets, and schedule construction timelines.
  • You will serve as the primary point of contact to builders or consultants, offering solutions and providing regular updates to the team.
  • You will manage the procurement of materials and furnishings, ensuring timely delivery and installation.
  • You will manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and client satisfaction are met.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Interior Design or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial Interior Documentation and Project Management.
  • Proficiency in design software (Revit, Autocad, Adobe Suite).
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and material specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • A strong communicator and team player with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly with varied hours.

This is a full-time salary position, predominantly Monday to Friday with regular interstate travel and varied work hours on weekdays and weekends.
