Job Overview

The role of an Aviation Security Officer involves performing duties related to the security of persons and property at airports.

Main Responsibilities
  • Primary function is passenger screening at the airport; officers are rotated among positions.
  • Positions include Loader, X-Ray Operator, Physical Bag Searcher, Primary Position (Body scanner/Walk-through metal detector), and Explosive Trace Detector (ETD).
  • Maintain safety standards and professional conduct; handle challenging interactions with the public and engage in conflict resolution as needed.
  • Secondary duties may include queue coordination, checked baggage screening monitoring, access control, and airport clearance checks.
Key Requirements
  • Fully certified and accredited to perform Aviation Screening duties as per requirements — Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Aviation)
  • Hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Training funded, including Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20118) and 40 hours on-the-job training;
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service role
  • Previous security guard experience desirable but not essential
