About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to join our expanding funeral services team at The Salvation Army. This role enables you to be in an honored space, supporting families in their time of grief and loss.

As a Funeral Planner, you will be responsible for managing funeral arrangements, handling legal documentation and permits, and providing pastoral support to families. Your role will involve coordinating with cemeteries, clergy, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless funeral services.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to communicate with empathy and strong interpersonal skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence. You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and have experience using computer applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to families, including information on available services and products.
  • Arrange burials or cremations, and coordinate with cemeteries, clergy, and other stakeholders.
  • Secure necessary permits and documentation, including death registration lodgement and verification of medical certificates.
  • Organize and personalize memorial services, including facilitating discussions with relatives regarding funeral style, flower arrangements, and other requirements.
  • Provide after-hours phone support, as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in funeral planning or working in fields of grief and trauma.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience using computer applications.

Requirements of the Role

  • A current driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require physical strength, such as lifting caskets and setting up equipment.
