About this Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to join our growing team of professionals dedicated to renewable energy projects.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and have a deep understanding of the complexities involved in developing renewable energy projects in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support community engagement and outreach activities within our Australian portfolio of operating and development projects
  • Collaborate with project teams to facilitate a social license to operate
  • Conduct research and stakeholder mapping exercises to underpin the development and implementation of community engagement plans for development projects
  • Assist with the implementation of these community engagement plans
  • Attend and assist with the planning of community events, including tours of renewable energy projects, open houses, landowner dinners, school or community group presentations, local fairs and festivals
  • Provide advice on community needs and project topics of particular interest to project communities
  • Interact with sometimes adversarial stakeholders
  • Document stakeholder interactions and concerns within our internal CRM system
  • Provide advice on benefit sharing programs within project communities

Requirements:

  • 6-10 years providing community and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the energy or major project sector
  • Experience working in rural communities
  • Understanding of the complexities of developing renewable energy projects in Australia
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working on sometimes controversial projects
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presentations

Desirable Skills:

  • Renewable energy sector experience
  • University degree in journalism, communications, public relations or similar discipline or equivalent
  • iap2 training
  • Understanding of the planning process for renewable energy projects
  • Knowledge of the energy sector, particularly renewable energies
  • Background in journalism or written communications
  • Proven ability to manage adversarial stakeholders
  • Event coordination skills - wind farm tours, open houses, landowner dinners, other community events
