Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician Role

We are seeking a skilled clinician to join our team in the Lower North Shore area. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing comprehensive assessments and interventions to children, young people, and their families.

The role offers opportunities for skill building, attendance at training, and provision of high-level supervision within a supportive working environment.

About the Role

  • This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills and experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload and providing evidence-based treatment modalities such as client-centred psychotherapies and family-focused therapies.
  • Extensive networking with services including education department, local schools, GP, and other private, government, and non-government services is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload with presentations from 0–17 years old from diverse backgrounds.
  • Evidence-based treatment modalities include client-centred psychotherapies and family-focused therapies such as Attachment Based Family Therapy, CBT, and DBT.
  • Extensive networking with services including the education department and local schools, the GP, and other private, government, and non-government services.
  • Multi-disciplinary team approach provides a supportive environment given the demand and acuity of presentations.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing and registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW for Social Workers.
  • Clinical Psychologists must have a postgraduate Masters or higher in Clinical Psychology.
  • For Social Work, experience as a Level 2 clinician.
  • Occupational Therapist must have experience as a Level 2 clinician.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 must have relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience in the clinical area of their post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant clinical mental health experience in a community setting with children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the assessment, formulation, and treatment of infant, child, and adolescent mental health problems and family relationship problems.
