About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Research & Data Analytics branch at NCVER. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering timely, forward-thinking, and relevant research findings based on rigorous analysis that informs decision-making for diverse stakeholders in the vocational education and training sector (VET).

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with NCVER's comprehensive data assets and external data sources to deliver world-class research, intelligent analytics, and highly accessible data.
  • Develop and execute end-to-end research and data analytics projects, from taking a brief to designing a sophisticated analytic approach, through to execution, analysis, and reporting.
  • Support the delivery of research outputs through the preparation of high-quality written reports, presentations, and data visualizations that are suitable for a range of audiences.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of technical and VET sector experts to inform and influence policy and practice in VET.
  • Apply advanced quantitative techniques, including data linkage, regression modeling, and machine learning, to solve complex research questions.
  • Utilize statistical software (SAS/SQL, Python, R) to perform relevant analysis and identify and utilize a range of data sources to ensure informed and relevant research.
  • Communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and data visualizations.
Requirements
  • Qualification in data analytics, data science, mathematics, or other quantitative research.
  • Previous relevant experience in a market, social, or government research environment, with proven ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of research methodologies and exploratory advanced quantitative techniques.
  • Applied experience in using statistical software to perform relevant analysis.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to self-manage with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to interpret and translate complex data into insights that are consumable by non-technical audiences.
