Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough psychological assessments and evaluations to gain insights into patients' pain experiences, psychological influences, and their effects on overall health.
- Design and execute evidence-based treatment strategies customized for individual patients, emphasizing pain management and fostering psychological resilience.
- Deliver psychological therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based techniques, and other methodologies, to assist patients in effectively managing their pain.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, comprising surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care and holistic treatment for patients experiencing pain conditions.
- Engage in research and contribute to the formulation of innovative interventions and strategies for pain management.
- Educate and train patients, families, and caregivers on the psychological dimensions of pain management and methods to enhance their overall well-being.
- Maintain precise and current documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes in line with professional and ethical standards.
- Keep updated with the latest research, advancements, and best practices in the domain of pain psychology.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid professional license or certification to practice psychology.
- Specialization or postdoctoral training in pain psychology, chronic pain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting psychological assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions for patients with pain conditions.
- Strong understanding of various psychological treatment modalities, including CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches, in relation to pain management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and develop therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to convey complex concepts clearly and understandably.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about the latest research and advancements in pain psychology.
