Role Overview

The role of Emergency Management Program Specialist plays a key part in the delivery of emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland.

This specialist will be responsible for managing the development of doctrine within the State Emergency Service (SES), including coordinating and implementing a doctrine framework, reviewing policies, procedures and other knowledge documents to meet SES operational service delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and review strategies to enable the SES to enhance service delivery to support changing community and environmental needs, monitor issues that may impact or influence doctrine and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to stakeholders in relation to the SES doctrine framework, ensuring documentation is developed and maintained to quality assurance standards.
  • Research, analyse and identify opportunities to improve and further develop SES doctrine products and processes, including online content resources, to ensure quality outcomes and meet service delivery requirements.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and/or experience in developing, maintaining and improving organisational doctrine, policy (and process) management systems and frameworks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements.
  • Capacity to work on night and weekend shifts to suit an SES volunteer environment.
