Key Accountant Role in Tax and Business Services

A high-performing Key Accountant is sought after by a well-established Accounting and Advisory firm. The successful candidate will join an experienced team, delivering exceptional tax, compliance, and strategic advice to a diverse range of clients.

This is a leadership role with direct exposure to senior management, offering a mix of client responsibility, team oversight, and advisory work.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly report to the Associate Directors and Managing Director
  • Prepare financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Manage BAS, FBT, GST, Payroll Tax, and other statutory compliance
  • Assist with tax planning, entity setups, and business structuring
  • Maintain and grow strong client relationships
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Allocate, review, and manage the workflow of 2–3 junior accountants
  • Mentor team members and ensure timely, accurate outcomes

About You:

  • 5+ years' experience in tax and/or business advisory
  • Confident communicator and trusted client liaison
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and outcome-driven
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or review role (desirable)
  • SMSF knowledge (desirable)
