About the Role

This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of signalling design, from concept to handover.

  • Leading a team of signalling engineers and designers across all project phases.
  • E nsuring designs adhere to relevant railway standards and safety regulations.
  • Providing technical guidance, mentorship, and competency development for signalling professionals.
  • Reviewing and approving technical deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Liaising with internal teams, contractors, and clients to facilitate design integration and resolve technical issues.
  • Closely collaborating with Project Managers to maintain project schedules, resource plans, and budgets for the signalling function.
Key Requirements
  • 15 years' experience in railway signalling, with expertise in conventional signal design adhering to Australian standards.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Certificate(s) of competency from rail transport operators, level 2 highly desired.
  • Accreditation from Engineers Australia and membership with IRSE.
  • In-depth knowledge of signalling systems, ETCS, and whole of life project management.
  • Ability to lead signal design engineers and/or project teams to meet client expectations.
  • Strong understanding of document and design control processes.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong computer, software, and systems literacy.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
