About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Metro Inspector - Animal Welfare Advocate. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in promoting and enforcing animal welfare laws and regulations in our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations into animal welfare incidents, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses and suspects as needed.
  • Seize animals in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring their safe transportation to a place of care.
  • Collect and analyze physical, documentary, photographic, video, and scientific evidence to support cases.
  • Prepare and submit Briefs of Evidence, and attend court to present evidence in relation to alleged animal welfare offenses.
  • Provide education and advice to animal owners on responsible pet ownership and basic animal care.

Requirements

  • Investigative experience, with a strong understanding of animal welfare laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service, with a focus on animal welfare.
  • Excellent written and computer skills, with the ability to prepare and submit reports and documents.
  • Good animal handling, health care, and welfare experience, with a strong understanding of animal behavior and needs.
  • A valid current Open Qld Drivers' License, and the ability to obtain a Queensland Firearms License.
  • A Certificate IV in Investigations, or the ability to obtain.
  • A Restricted Drug Authority, or the ability to obtain.
  • The ability to travel to Brisbane and other locations in QLD for training or temporary support for other Inspectors.
