We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team in Newcastle, Australia. As a key member of our Contaminated Site team, you will be responsible for managing small to medium-scale contaminated-site projects, collaborating with experts on high-profile projects, and working on a range of sites to support compliance requirements, remediation, and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct environmental field works, including drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, and monitoring.
- Collect and analyze environmental samples, including soil, groundwater, soil vapour, and ambient air.
- Interrogate large datasets, develop conceptual site models, and prepare detailed field notes.
- Draft technical assessments reports and recommendations.
- Oversee contractors and ensure safe, compliant, and quality field works programs.
- Apply legislation, standards, guidelines, and project specifications.
- Prepare compelling proposals and lead projects to meet budget and strategic goals.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of consultants to reach their highest potential.
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, innovation, and passion, promoting trust and unity among team members.
- Collaborate with the national team to execute initiatives locally.
- Manage your own projects of small to medium scale.
- Develop business development strategies and contribute to market action plans for targeted clients.
- Uphold a strong safety culture and champion safety initiatives.
We are looking for a highly experienced and enthusiastic individual with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. You will have a strong understanding of soil contaminants, site sampling techniques, investigation methodologies, and remediation technologies for groundwater, soil, and gas. You will also have knowledge of NSW regulations pertaining to the management of contaminated sites and a current full Australian Driver's License.
You will be a tertiary-educated professional in earth sciences or environmental science/engineering, with some experience in business development, proposal writing, and delivering exceptional client outcomes and cost-effective solutions. You will have strong project management skills and a collaborative and team-oriented approach to undertaking projects.
