Diagnostic Radiologist

The role of a diagnostic radiologist encompasses the interpretation and reporting of medical imaging modalities to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. In this capacity, you will be responsible for analysing images obtained through various techniques such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound.

  • Expertise in the interpretation and reporting of sub-specialty women's and neonatal radiology imaging modalities is essential. This includes an in-depth understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to these patient populations.

Quality supervision and teaching of trainees in the interpretation and reporting of sub-specialty women's and neonatal radiology imaging modalities is also crucial. This involves providing guidance and feedback on their performance, as well as contributing to the development of educational materials and resources.

Participation in clinical radiology and multidisciplinary meetings, including presentation and interpretation of pertinent imaging findings, is vital for effective collaboration and decision-making.

Requirements
  • Sub-specialty expertise in reporting Foetal and Neonatal MRI is highly valued. This requires a strong foundation in fetal and neonatal anatomy, as well as proficiency in image analysis software.
  • Skill in performing a range of image-guided interventional procedures is also essential. This may involve using imaging equipment to guide minimally invasive procedures such as biopsies or drainages.

Excellent communication skills are necessary for conveying complex information effectively to patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and other software systems is also expected.
