Overview: The Registered Nurse (Multi-Unit, ED / Medical Surgical, Home Base Medical Surgical) is dedicated to enhancing and restoring the health of patients through the nursing process. This role involves collaboration with patients, physicians, and a multidisciplinary team, providing both physical and emotional support to patients and their families, while also overseeing the performance of assigned team members. This is a part-time role with flexible shift availability, including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrating strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and sound decision-making.
  • Applying nursing skills effectively in emergency situations (e.g., Code Blue).
  • Engaging in effective communication with patients, families, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient behavior and evaluating outcomes.
  • Competently operating medical equipment.
  • Conducting diagnostic tests within the established scope of practice.
  • Administering medications and treatments safely and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Completion of a diploma or degree from an accredited College/University, with a preference for BScN.
  • Relevant specialized certifications and training related to the nursing specialty.
  • Certification in BCLS, ACLS, and NRP.
  • PALS/ENCP Certification.
  • Completion of TNCC/ATLS and CTAS Course.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias and Defibrillation.
  • 15 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification.
  • Preferred completion of a Critical Care Course.
  • Preferred CNA Emergency Nursing Certification.
  • Preferred Maternal Newborn Course.
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cerner software and related hardware is preferred.
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of physical and mental effort.

Compensation: As per ONA salary scale
