The Role

This role involves being part of Sonar's Response Network as a 24/7 safety and wellbeing service provider. At the heart of our operation is our Response Network of highly trained Sonar Responders who offer in-person support to our members when they need it, coordinating with our Support Centre.

This opportunity is perfect for serving or former workers within identified industries, offering flexibility to maintain a work-life balance while enjoying your on-call capacity. Ideally based in or around Canberra, you'll be part of the Sonar Responders Network working in a casual capacity.

Sonar Responders operate on a flexible 24-hour on-call roster, making this an exciting chance for the right individuals to build and expand the network in Australia from the ground level. Your experience in decision-making, response, empathy, and a drive to assist others will be crucial for success and satisfaction in this role.

You will be free to nominate your hours of availability and receive generous remuneration for both on-call readiness and incident response.

When required, you will assist the Area Manager in:

  • Recruiting, training, and managing Sonar's critical incident response capability within your area
  • Conducting stakeholder engagement to support Sonar's business and operational outputs as directed
  • Providing input to operational procedures and network management
  • Conducting emergency and non-emergency support responses as needed to support the network of responders in your area
About Us

We're seeking experienced professionals from the military, law enforcement, mental health sector, or emergency services industries who share our passion for assisting people in need. You should be confident in assessing critical situations and determining the next steps. Empathy is essential.

Our ideal candidate has recent or current experience within emergency services, military, and/or security-related work in Australia, along with a strong local network of contacts.

Key skills include high self-awareness, motivation, and self-management, prioritisation, acting on key issues, and making quick decisions while displaying interpersonal sensitivity.
