Job Description

A great opportunity exists for a dynamic and proactive Operations Manager to join our team managing two shopping centers based on the lower North Shore in Sydney, NSW. As part of this role, you will be responsible for supervising daily events to ensure the assets are running at their optimum with maintenance activities, capital works, and tenancy delivery.

The primary focus will always be the health and safety of all visitors and occupants, the presentation of the property, and the implementation of client strategies, all performed with minimal disruption to tenants.

  • Supervise the activities of engaged contractors to ensure a suitable environment for customers, staff, and tenants, confirming all services comply with WH&S policies.
  • Establish quality standards for the sites, meeting and exceeding customer and retailer expectations.
  • Manage annual budgets and reports.
  • Provide a detailed 10-year Capex program that validates annual programs and informs owners of long-range funding requirements.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to minimize customer and retailer disruption during development.
  • Monitor site fit-outs.
  • Environmental management.
  • Management of essential services.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, ensuring consistency and support to all colleagues and our client as required.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum

This role is about organization and communication. Your ability to communicate with people at all levels, combined with your passion for providing superior service to clients and retailers, makes you an ideal candidate.

A clear and proven understanding of WH&S and risk management is essential, along with related property, facilities management, and operations management experience in a retail/shopping center environment.

You can resolve complex technical issues practically and work independently, making sound decisions when needed. You also display strong initiative to anticipate and manage ongoing changes affecting facilities management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • a proven track record in operations management, preferably in a retail or shopping center environment;
  • strong organizational and communication skills;
  • a deep understanding of WH&S and risk management principles;
  • ability to work independently and make sound decisions;
  • experience in managing budgets and reports;
  • capability to develop and implement strategies to minimize disruption during development;
  • knowledge of environmental management and essential services.
