We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to join our dynamic team at Canva. As a key member of our Data Platform Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking professional to take on a leadership position and drive innovation in cloud-based data platforms.

  • Craft and implement a declarative infrastructure management framework for our data platform (Snowflake and AWS) to empower self-service data pipeline and analytics development by our data community.
  • Develop automated governance for our data platform across all data workloads.
  • Evolve and refine data access controls framework towards finer grain controls and policy-based access controls.
  • Enhance development practices through improvements to testing strategies and frameworks.
  • Promote the growth of our data platform teams, including hiring, onboarding, and training of fellow engineers.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of commercial experience developing complex applications in Python.
  • Architecture and design experience for modern MPP cloud-based data platforms and warehouses, preferably with Snowflake and AWS.
  • Expertise in implementing data platform infrastructure resource management frameworks using Infrastructure as Code declaratively (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience in improving testing frameworks and strategies, including unit testing and integration testing.
  • Prior experience in building and uplifting data governance capabilities, including managing lineage, classification, treatment, access control, sovereignty, and more.
