Risk Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Risk Manager to join our Registration Management program at the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in evaluating the safety, efficacy, and trade impacts of agricultural and veterinary chemical products.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate applications for registration or permit of agvet products, ensuring compliance with established legislation and policy frameworks.
- Apply technical knowledge and expertise to assess the potential risks and benefits of agvet products, specifying suitable labels as required.
- Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders, including other APVMA staff, industry representatives, and government agencies.
- Manage workflow to ensure timely processing of applications, meeting legislated timeframes.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant scientific discipline, such as veterinary medicine, animal science, biology, zoology, agricultural or horticultural science, entomology, weed science, pharmacology, toxicology, or physiology.
- Knowledge of the APVMA's regulatory environment and legislation, with the ability to apply risk assessment principles in a regulatory context.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide pragmatic advice on complex scientific matters.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
