Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Safety Systems and Training Manager to join our Safety team at Melbourne Airport.
This critical role ensures the organisation's safety management system (SMS) meets legal requirements and industry best practices.
Main Responsibilities:- Safety Management System Lead: Develop, implement, and continuously improve the SMS to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Compliance Oversight: Oversee safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks to maintain the highest level of safety across all operations.
- Safety Insights and Strategy: Provide strategic input to senior leadership on safety issues, trends, and potential areas of risk.
- Collaboration and Training: Work with various departments to ensure safety policies and training align with operational goals and facilitate comprehensive safety training programs for employees.
- SMS Updates and Integration: Ensure the SMS remains up to date, aligned with regulatory standards, and incorporates new safety technologies and tools.
- Safety Performance Monitoring: Analyze safety performance metrics to track the effectiveness of safety initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting safety performance, trends, and recommended actions.
- Degree or Diploma: Hold a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Possess professional safety certification, such as AIHS certification.
- Experience: Bring at least 5 years of experience in safety systems management and training, preferably in a high-risk environment.
- Skills and Qualities: Proven ability to implement, manage, and improve safety management systems; thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards; and proficient in risk management, incident investigation, and compliance auditing.

Estimated Salary Range:$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
