About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Health Information Services Officer to join our Health Information Services team at Norwest Private Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining medical records, ensuring accurate and timely retrieval of records, and providing exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintaining medical records, including compiling records of discharged patients and ensuring all forms are in the correct order
  • Retrieving medical records from off-site storage and collections from wards
  • Sorting and filing of medical records in main file in terminal digit filing order
  • Culling of medical records to be moved to our offsite storage facility
  • Management of incoming telephone calls
  • Sorting and filing of incoming correspondence, reports, and results
  • Provision of health information to internal and external clients according to Healthscope's Release of Information policy
Selection Criteria
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience in an administrative role in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Web PAS Patient Administration System
  • Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality principles
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
