About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our VIC Grain Protection team as a Grain Protection Specialist. This is not just pest control, it's specialized grain protection, safeguarding grain supply.

You will report to the Grain Protection Supervisor and travel to sites in the region to:

  • Inspect site infrastructure and storage assets for hygiene and cleanliness
  • Monitor and carry out a wide range of pest control and fumigation procedures
  • Direct activities of pest control trainees/assistants that support this role
  • Provide expert advice and training as required, to site staff in the region

Undertake work in compliance with relevant safety and environmental policies and procedures. Completing reporting, audit and other activities as required.

About Your Experience

This position is a rewarding career for someone with a keen interest in a technical career path. Ideally, you'll have some experience in trades and services, building and construction, transport and logistics, or agriculture.

However, if you don't have the experience but you do have a genuine passion or interest in the grains and wider agricultural industry - we want to hear from you.

You will have an unrestricted driver's licence, and ideally a H or M class licence. This role also requires someone who is organized, has some level of computer skills, and is detail-focused.

The willingness to travel and be away from home for short periods at a time is essential as is the capacity to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Some experience in trades and services, building and construction, transport and logistics, or agriculture
  • An unrestricted driver's licence, and ideally a H or M class licence
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use software applications relevant to the role
  • Detail-focused and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
