The Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is a leading provider of launch systems capabilities serving national security, military, civil, and commercial customers. We're currently seeking a highly qualified Digital Hardware Engineer looking to join our program hardware team based in Alice Springs, AU. The ideal candidate should have experience in digital communication systems maintenance within a structured configuration control environment.

This role requires a two-year commitment and the ability to pass a physical and psychological exam. The working hours are typically from 7:30am to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional off-hours or long hours required for special activities. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered, including relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with basic communication theory and knowledge of digital and analog modulation/demodulation techniques
  • System, subsystem, unit, and board-level troubleshooting and repair
  • Development and modification of procedures for alignment
  • Responding to system and subsystem anomalies as required
  • Explaining root cause and fault resolution to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, BER testers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, voltmeters, and other equipment used for testing digital communication systems
  • Understanding of AC & DC electronic theory as well as various communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, GPIB, etc.
  • Knowledge of BPSK & QPSK waveforms and methods for testing and troubleshooting systems that use such techniques
  • Providing 24/7 emergency anomaly response for diagnosing data and supporting restoration/repair efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 8 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Master's Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 6 years of engineering/technical experience OR a PhD in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 4 years of engineering/technical experience OR High School Diploma/G.E.D. plus 12 years of engineering/technical experience in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic communication theory, digital and analog modulation/demodulation techniques, AC & DC electronic theory
  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access, and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with an SSBI/Counter Intelligence polygraph within the last 4 years
  • Knowledgeable in BPSK & QPSK waveforms and methods for testing and troubleshooting systems that use such techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of various communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, GPIB, etc.

The estimated salary range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000 annually, considering the location and job requirements. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay, along with various benefits such as health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
