Quantum Applications Scientist Role Overview

At UNSW Australia, we are seeking a talented Quantum Applications Scientist to join our team in Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd (SQC). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of quantum computers based on atom-qubits in silicon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate quantum advantage with near-term quantum systems
  • Explore the implementation of analogue quantum systems on near-term arrays of phosphorus-doped silicon quantum dots
  • Develop and adapt quantum algorithms for industry-focused applications
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of quantum physicists, engineers, and technicians
  • Conduct high-quality research and generate publication output

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a relevant field
  • Research experience in classical machine learning, quantum machine learning, or related fields
  • Experience with Python quantum computing packages, such as OpenQASM (Qiskit), Cirq, or ProjectQ
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines
