Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of milk production, including management and coordination of milking shed routines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dairy cattle management and experience in reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and herd fertility management. They will also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate milk production processes
  • Manage and coordinate milking shed routines
  • Coordinate and implement reproductive programs
  • Assist in controlled breeding experiments
  • Implement calving procedures
  • Plan and manage pastures and crops for livestock production
  • Develop livestock feeding plans
  • Analyse produce to set and maintain standards of quality
  • Supervise animal health programs
  • Supervise work routines and staff performance
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures
  • Operate milking plant and equipment
  • Operate dairy recycling system
  • Transport, handle and store chemicals
  • Perform maintenance works on sheds, fixtures and fittings
  • Maintain records to ensure accurate information for stock and inventory control
  • Ensure food safety regulatory requirements are met
  • Contribute to and implement OHS requirements
  • Coordinate the response to emergencies
  • Participate in enterprise/industry training sessions and workshops

Requirements:

  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture / Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant work experience
