Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Mental Health Nurse to join our experienced multi-disciplinary healthcare team at HMAS Stirling in Garden Island. As part of this role, you will provide high-quality evidence-based mental health services to patients, including intake assessments, risk assessments, crisis intervention, case formulation, and medication management.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will be an integral member of our healthcare team, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care and supporting the well-being of defence personnel.
  • Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments and deliver focused psychological strategies as defined under the Medicare Schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage crisis presentations, conduct risk assessments, and develop risk management plans.
  • Promote a supportive environment for patients, prioritizing their physical and emotional well-being.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Credentialed with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), or equivalent qualifications, such as a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or undergraduate training in mental health nursing.
  • A minimum of 2 years' postgraduate experience in mental health, preferably in primary healthcare or specialist mental health settings.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant State/Territory policies, national standards governing mental health practice, and the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2018-2023).
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities related to mental health, with a minimum of 10 hours completed within the last year.
